Fontucky # 3

Well, my first success as a pro rider, I made it down the damn racecourse without crashing. This would have seemed a small feat to me last year, but I have crashed in my last 3 races and it was kind of getting in my head, so I am really relieved to have a clean (ish) run in the books as a pro. I say cleanish because I did dab in one section still, but even after that I didn't lose my focus and continued to have a good run. It was conservative for sure... I didn't push myself (other than on the pedally parts), I just rode how I knew I could ride to get me down the course. And I ended up in 4th. Not too shabby for a conservative run. 4 seconds behind 2nd and 3rd place, and 14 behind first place... but that was former World champion Leigh Donovan, so I don't feel too bad about that.

I nabbed some practice shots from Mike Lord. Check out his other pics if you get a chance @ http://picasaweb.google.com/CycleWorldBikes/SouthridgeWinterSeries3MikeLordSelectSaturday#

Next weekend I have a race at Bootleg. I've never raced there before so I'm nervous about not having a "real" downhill bike, and about crashing into pointy rocks... but I'll wear my armour and hope for the best. It will be fun to be somewhere new.
