The Monument Jump
Well, it's winter in Cali, and that means it's diggin' time. The rain arrived and the dirt finally has some moisture, so shovels to dirt it is. This year, Russell and I wanted to build a largish table top as a practice jump for the largish gap jumps built by our friend Rob. We started off with two tiny piles of dirt... and now it's 4 weeks in, and it's turned into an almost 20 foot jump that we hit for the first time on Sunday. We have named it the monument jump since we came across a survey monument next to it while digginer. Already after only hitting it a dozen or so times, I'm feeling more confident about some of the smaller gaps in the area I've started to dub "the Hulda Crooks jump park". I'm SO glad we did this. It is super fun, doesn't require much hiking and was REALLY satisfying to build by hand. Can I dig dirt for a living mom?
Next up, we'll expand the trail into this to include a step down and possibly another jump, in addition to finishing off the trail Russell started to build last year. I can't really take credit for helping with that one since I think I only went out about twice. However, I WILL take credit for helping finish it in the weeks to come.
Look out ladies, I'm learning to jump.
Oh yeah, and my ribs are mostly better.
