Well, I guess the big news is that Russell separated his shoulder and needs surgery and we have postponed our trip to NZ until next year. To add insult to injury he did it on the jump we just spent so long building. He's recovering well though and will hopefully be back at it by the time we start traveling for my races. Speaking of races... I had my first one of the season, and I sucked haha. I'm ok with it though because I think it was all mental because I'm racing Pro this year (oh yeah, I got approved to race pro!!). I basically crashed 2 times on what I thought was a pretty easy course, and you can't really recover the time lost in 2 crashes when the whole race is only 3 minutes long. The positive side is that I felt fitter than any of my races last year, so at least I know my hard work is semi paying off. I have races pretty much every other weekend from now until April so I hope to continually improve my results. My goal for the next 2 races is just to make it down the hill cleanly and not worry about my time or what place I get. I need to get over the mental hurdle that I have put up for myself about crashing in all my race runs before I can worry about doing well.
In other news, we have parental visits in the next few weeks. My dad is coming down the last week of January, and Russell's mom is coming down next week for his surgery. I'm really excited to see my dad (though sad my mom isn't coming too), and I'm excited to show him the monument jump and have him come to a Fontana race, and possibly hit up Big Bear for a day on the snow or something.
That's about all... Here's a sweet picture of my crash that some dude got... and by some dude I mean DH Glory from STR... props to him for the picture. Crashes may suck but they look pretty badass on camera.

As a final note, I just came in from a quick ride and this girl came by me while I was resting at the top of a sorta steep section, and as she rode down she went "WHEEEE!!!" and I laughed to myself and remembered when that same hill used to make me do that and I was happy for her and happy for me and happy for mountain bikers. :)
