Last weekend I had my first race, and first win of the year. I missed the first 4 Fontana races because I was in New Zealand riding like a maniac in January and then sick for the 4th race. I made it to the Finals of the Winter series and managed to pull off a win over the girl who had been winning all season. Pretty happy with that for my first result of the year! I don't know if it's because I'm just in a better place mentally this year, or because I wasn't burnt out on Fontana any more, but I felt calm and collected and I even felt like I could dominate the wall. I didn't once have that giving up feeling that dominated my last year's Fontana races, I just felt good. Even though I made a pretty major mistake about halfway down, I pulled it together and got the job done.

I'm looking forward to Race number 2 in a few weeks where there is bound to be a bit stiffer compet
ition. Aiming for a podium this year at the Fontana National! Coming for you Melissa Buhl! I've been training as much as possible what with a full time job, and trying to ride a lot more downhill than last year to hone my skills and get used to going fast. I've also been working on some skills off the hill. Hoping to improve my cornering drastically this year.

So that's my status for now. Plotting out the year in races. Looking at lots of racing in Canada this year and hopefully we'll get to squeeze in a trip to Whistler at some point this summer too.
