Blast the Mass Practice Wrap-Up

Now that day 2 of practice is over, I thought I'd do a wrap up of how the course feels and what I think I still need to nail tomorrow in my practice run.

Day 1 was pretty rad. I met a cool gal Alysha to ride with all day and she really pushed me to go faster. I only had one major fall aside from getting tangled up with a guy who fell in front of me. The course is pretty ridiculous. I've never seen so many giant holes and bumps in a racecourse before. Are we on a moguls course?? I'm having a real hard time keeping in control. Also, the poor beginners are stuck with no go around over a pretty significant drop right in the middle of the course. Who am I kidding, I wish I had a go around for that one. It's got a gnarly rock section before it, then a flat road, and then you drop many feet onto a steep hill not without large rocks and holes, and then you have to make a sharp right turn into more steep craziness. I wish I had a picture, but my camera has no batteries it turns out. I seem to be able to do it, but I feel like I'm close to death each time. So day 1 I just tried to get a feel for the course and get my suspension dialed to handle the bumps.

Today I tried to pick some good lines and such, and got to ride with Addie and Alysha again. I got 3 runs in and watched a few sections for while. Definitely saw some stuff I didn't see yesterday which is good. I think I figured how to make some corners smoother and how to hit the bottom jump with enough speed to make the downside. I'll try both of those out tomorrow again just to be sure. There is still one section that I haven't decided what to do on yet. There are 2 ways to go and one way is definitely faster, but it isn't a sure thing for me to make the next corner if I take that route. Decisions, Decisions...

So, that was practice. Tomorrow I'll do one full run and then it's race time!! Yikes!! It's going to be a tight one I think.
