Tonight I tried to switch the brakes on a friends bike. I thought I could do it. I really did. I could not. I am the worst mechanic. Seriously. It seems like most of you women who like to bike have some rudimentary understanding of how things work. I my friends, do not. I have pedaled with my bike upside down and expected the front tire to turn, I to this day need to take a few minutes to figure out how to get my back wheel on and off etc etc etc...There have been many "really?" moments from Russell when I'm attempting to fix things. Tonight I wanted to make up for all those moments, and having seen brakes come off and on my own bike, I thought I could. But alas I could not. I'm just not mechanically inclined. I really wish I were, because I really like it when I can actually figure something out, but it just takes me longer than the average person I think. Russell had to be called in for both man strength and technical assistance. Oh well, Lindsay and I still had a good time hanging out in the "man cave" drinking beer and getting dirty. And now Lindsay has some sweet Juicy 5s on her bike and will actually be able to stop without using her feet. Just to be clear, this is not a women aren't bike mechanics post, it's a "why aren't I as good a bike mechanic as you other women?" post. Oh well, at least I can ride bikes, even if I can't fix 'em. Here's a pic of all the bikes in our garage that I don't know how to take apart or put together.
