The first DH run was Russell and I down Devo. It was fun, but I wasn't a huge fan of that trail since it wasn't that flowy, and for the most part seemed more suited to a 6 inch bike. Then Lindsay and I went down what I thought was going to be an easy trail and turned out to be the pro downhill racecourse I think. Here is a pic she took of me about to launch off one of the obstacles that we would be presented with on the trail...
Lindsay and I then took a nicer more mellow trail the second time and I am pretty sure she had a good time on that one. I think Deer Crest Trail? Don't really know where we were but it was pretty fast and smooth and fun. Also had some sweet views. Here are the two beauties/badasses on that trail.
Final run was Russell and I again. We took NCS from the top this time. What a fun trail. It had a bit of everything. We got MUDDY!! I loved it, black Canadianesque mud everywhere. I miss real mud! Lindsay had taken the truck back to return her rental bike at this point, so Russell and I rode down the street/path back to the shop. Park City is a pretty cool town. I didn't realize until I got back to the hotel and took off my shorts that the people that saw me in town must have thought I had an accident in my shorts... It's just mud!!

It was still sunny and nice out at this point so Russell and I decided to hit up Mid Mountain trail for a cross country ride. Lindsay opted to stay in town and check out the scene a bit. It was thanks to her doing this that we got to go on the Alpine Slide! hooray Lindsay! Our ride took us out on super flowy fun single track through pristine Aspen forests out to one of many gorgeous meadows where we turned around and made our way about halfway back and we hopped on another amazing trail to get back down the hill. We think this trail was called either John's trail or Sweeney's switchbacks, and may have been a little of both. Definitely a trail like none other I have been on. Really tight and twisty through the trees, pretty much impossible to go very fast without getting hung up by your handlebars. A brand new and fun challenge. We managed to get in 20 miles of sweet xc that afternoon, and I'm going to throw out there that the Mid Mountain/John's trail combo might be my favorite trail of any I've been on in my 3 years of biking. I usually say that about one trail or another after every trip I go on however, so we'll see if it sticks.
When we got back to the hotel, Lindsay was there with the exciting news that a) she found my helmet (note that in the pics from our xc ride I'm wearing Lindsays helmet) and b) the Alpine slides were open until 8pm! So Russell and I showered quickly and we took off to hit those bad boys up. Alpine slides are fun! If a bit sketchy at the same time. We were warned at the top that people have fallen out of them and broken bones before and then on the way down, Lindsay ran into a Marmot or a gopher or some kind of rodent. HA! Both parties escaped unharmed. The only bad part about the alpine slides was that the lift to get up to the top of them was set on like grandma sightseeing speed, so it took us forever to get up to the start. However, it provided the opportunity to enjoy more beautiful Park City scenery.
After the alpine slides and some delish thai food in downtown PC, we headed back to the hotel exhausted. Knowing that we had a big day of driving ahead of us tomorrow, we hit the hay pretty early. Russell and I got up early the next morning for a last taste of the good life out in the hot tub, and then we were off on our looooong drive home. Another great weekend of biking complete.
